Once the whole group is ready, we will move to Arusha, the city from which all safaris begin. It is a great city as a starting point and where, in addition, we have our Watatu office. The transfer can last until 1:30 hs, although the distance is approximately 65 kilometers.

Farem check into the accommodation but, as we will not be able to enter the rooms yet we will take you to make adifferent activity, of those that are very special and that make a little difference. Here you can start enjoying an experience outside of tourist circuits

First day of Safari: Local lunch in Arusha with Daniel

Around noon, we will pick you up at the hotel to take you to the local village where we will have lunch. You will ask yourself:Who is Daniel? Are you part of the Watatu family? To a certain extent, yes. Daniel is a friend of Watatu, Maasai, which from the beginningHe has supported this projectand we are very grateful to him.

Daniel and the local community

Therefore, we thought that our travelers should know a little about the The beginning of Watatu and participate in an activity completely away from the tourist circuits. Here, it will only be us and it is a very special moment that we share with each other.

What will we eat?

Great buffet made by moms

TheNeighbourhood momswhere Daniel lives, they will cook us traditional foodsuch as pilau rice, various types of soup, fresh vegetables, assorted fruit and also grilled meat. In this way, we have direct contact with the local people and get to know the Tanzanian gastronomy.

Our travelers like the experience a lot because they remember it as a different activity that gives a great added value to the safari.

A little walk

Trekking with Daniel

We will not only enjoy a typical lunch of Tanzanian cuisine, but Daniel will also show us part of his land and town doing asmall Trekking. It is not difficult at all, but the terrain is not paved so we recommend that you wear footwear that is comfortable and can also be stained.
