THE ORIGIN OF WATATU TRAVEL
Our Story
Watatu Travel was born from the hard work and dream of Guillem, Watatu's founder, to create a positive impact through tourism in various Sub-Saharan African destinations.
Since 2014, he worked as a travel agent, guide, and manager of several camps in the region, as well as on a renewable energy project to supply entire communities in the most remote areas of Tanzania.
Today, the Watatu family has gradually grown. We are now a professional team that collaborates with trusted local suppliers, knows the terrain to offer the best routes, and is always there for you.

Our Awards
The reviews and opinions of our travelers are very important, as they allow people unfamiliar with us to discover us through the eyes of those who have experienced it. Thanks to their testimonials, we have won the award given by TripAdvisor to only the top 10% of best-rated projects worldwide. And that's 4 consecutive years!

Proximity
We are simple and genuine people who speak your language, and we are eager to welcome you to our community.
Calm
We travel without rushing to foster appreciation for the present moment, balancing hours of activity with moments of contemplation.
Immersion
We offer you a transformative experience by incorporating educational talks and/or other social impact and conservation activities during the trip.
Awareness
We reward travelers who choose shared trips, and in doing so, wish to reduce their impact on wildlife.

Traveling is what makes me feel alive and, although I have been lucky enough to know a lot of the world, no destination has made me feel what the African continent awakens in me. In Watatu I share my love for Africa and help our travelers make their dreams come true either by trekking with gorillas in Uganda or in search of the Big 5 in Tanzania.
