Your detailed safari itinerary
Arrival in Entebbe
A Watatu representative will pick you up at Entebbe International Airport. Once we've met, we'll head to your accommodation. You'll have the afternoon to rest and/or take a stroll by Lake Victoria. En route to Lake Mburo and walking safari: We'll start our journey in our 4x4 towards Lake Mburo (5-6 hours by road). We'll arrive at midday, have lunch, and in the afternoon, we'll "walk among giants" inside the park (a walking safari with giraffes). With 20% wetlands and 80% savanna, Mburo is home to incredible wildlife biodiversity. Giraffes, zebras, impalas, buffalo, and leopards await us. Later, we'll head to our accommodation and toast to a dream day.
En route to Lake Mburo and safari on foot
With our 4x4 we start the route towards Lake Mburo (5-6 hours by road). We will arrive at noon, have lunch and, in the afternoon, “Walk among giants” inside the park (walking safari with giraffes). With 20% wetlands and 80% savannah, Mburo is home to an incredible biodiversity of fauna. Giraffes, zebras, impalas, buffaloes or leopards await us. Later, we will go to the accommodation and toast for a dream day.
On the way to the Impenetrable Forest of Bwindi
Early in the morning we will leave Mburo National Park behind and head towards Bwindi National Park (5-6 hours). Little by little we will leave behind villages, coffee plantations, lakes and plains to gain altitude towards mountainous areas. Along the way we will stop at Kabale where we will visit the local market and have lunch. We will continue our route towards Bwindi we will stop at our “view points” to contemplate some scandalous views. Finally, we will arrive in Rushaga, already at the gates of the millenary forests where the last mountain gorillas live. Afternoon free to rest and think about the adventure that awaits us...
In Search of Mountain Gorillas
The day has come, the moment you have dreamed of all your life. Early in the morning we will explore the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (habitat of almost 600 mountain gorillas, half of the world's population). After an informative chat with the rangers, we will begin the search for the last mountain gorillas on the planet. The walk usually lasts between 3 and 6 hours. Once we locate the family, we will have 1 hour to observe the behavior of these primates. Lunch in the jungle and return, in the afternoon, to the accommodation.
Scenic flight and return to Entebbe
Today we say goodbye to Bwindi and head to Kisoro local airport and get ready for the last activity of the trip: “the flight of your life”. And we can't imagine a better ending, a plane flight to fly over Uganda from the air. One last gift for sight: forests, tea plantations, rural villages... until you reach Entebbe (1:30-2:00 h flight). Once we arrive at Entebbe International Airport we will put an end to this adventure. International flight back home.
The Bwindi Forest, in Uganda, is a biodiversity sanctuary with a forest surrounded by fog, creating a magical and mysterious atmosphere. This ancient forest, a World Heritage Site, is home to one of the last populations of endangered mountain gorillas. With towering trees and rich flora, Bwindi is a labyrinth of life where the singing of birds and the whisper of the wind between the leaves form a natural symphony.
Just a 10-minute walk from the Rushaga Gate of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, you can relax after the famous gorilla walk and enjoy a spectacular view of the park from your room.
