Your detailed safari itinerary

Arrival in Entebbe

Hotel in Entebbe
Dinner included

A Watatu representative will pick you up at Entebbe International Airport. Once we have met, we will head to the accommodation and we will make the presentation of all the adventurers. We will have the afternoon to rest and/or take a walk on Lake Victoria.

En route to Kibale Forest National Park

Lodge in Kibale
Breakfast, lunch and dinner

We start the day with breakfast and set off on our way to Kibale Forest National Park (6—7 hours by car). It is one of the last jewels of the African continent and one of the places in the world with the highest density of apes. Up to 13 species of primates can be found here, including the chimpanzee. During the journey we will leave the city behind and enter the rural landscapes of Uganda. We will arrive at Fort Portal, where we will enjoy a local lunch. On the way to our lodge in Kibale, we will stop in the middle of a tea plantation to take a picture and enjoy a brief explanation by our guide. After arriving at our hotel and resting, we will head to Bigodi, where we will observe the ancestral process of making coffee and learn how to brew a unique local drink: banana beer.

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale

Lodge in Kibale
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

This will be an unforgettable day. Accompanied by our rangers, we will venture into Kibale Forest to see the world's last wild chimpanzees. Once we locate a family, we will be able to observe them for an hour. We can observe their morning routines, the playful interactions between mothers and their young, or the territorial relationships among males. After the activity, we will enjoy a local lunch and have the afternoon to relax at our lodge.

Safari in Queen Elizabeth and boat trip on the Kazinga Channel

Lodge in Queen Elizabeth
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Early in the morning, we will head to the Kasenyi area for a safari to spot all kinds of antelopes, elephants, and, if we're lucky, lions. After a lunch break at the lodge, we will continue with a private boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, in search of hippos, crocodiles, and elephants that come to the banks to drink. We will return to the lodge to enjoy a sunset with savanna views and rest to prepare for the next day's journey.

In search of climbing lions in Ishasha and heading to Bwindi National Park

Lodge in Ruhija
Breakfast, lunch and dinner

Breakfast at the accommodation and departure en route to Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. We will go in search of the famous climbing lions and other species of the area. After lunch, we will get to know the project “Save Wildlife Community” and continue the journey to the Impenetrable Forest of Bwindi. Right on the edge of the park, in Ruhija, we will spend the night and prepare for the excursion the next day.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Lodge in Ruhija
Breakfast, lunch and dinner

The day has come, the moment you have dreamed of all your life. Early in the morning we will explore the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (habitat of almost 600 mountain gorillas, half of the world's population). After an informative chat with the rangers, we will begin the search for the last mountain gorillas on the planet. The walk usually lasts between 3 and 6 hours. Once we locate the family, we will have 1 hour to observe the behavior of these primates. Lunch in the jungle and return, in the afternoon, to the accommodation.

En route to Lake Mburo and a giraffe safari

Lodge in Mburo
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

We bid farewell to Bwindi and head towards Lake Mburo (a 6–7 hour drive). Along the way, we'll stop in Kabale to visit the local market before continuing our journey to our lodge in Lake Mburo. We'll have lunch at the hotel and have a chance to rest. In the afternoon, we'll embark on a walking safari and "walk among giants" within the park (a walking safari with giraffes). With 20% wetlands and 80% savanna, Mburo is home to incredible wildlife biodiversity: giraffes, zebras, impalas, buffalo, and leopards await us. Later, we'll return to the lodge and toast to a dream day.

Return to Entebbe and international flight

No accommodation
Picnic

Hard as it is to believe, your adventure in Uganda is coming to an end. As we leave Mburo and the country's rural areas behind, heading towards Entebbe, we'll reflect on everything we've experienced during this unforgettable journey. Finally, we'll arrive at the international airport to head back home.
