Watatu emphasizes and encourages to all our travelers that for peace of mind, getting a travel insurance plan is beneficial and compulsory, especially when traveling internationally. Travelers can get travel insurance through our recommended partner, Europ Assistance (see below), or through a provider of their own choosing. Kindly note that failing to obtain a travel insurance plan is at your own risk, and Watatu will not take any responsibility for accidents or medical emergencies at the destination.

+ What kind of travel insurance should I get?
At the minimum, we require that you are covered for medical expenses (including emergency situations, as well as a policy that includes Covid-19 coverage). We also recommend having a policy that covers personal liability, cancellations, loss of luggage and other benefits.
+ Does Watatu check if I have insurance?
Before departing for your trip with us, one of our requirements is that you send our team your travel insurance document that details the type of coverage you have purchased and the insurance company’s 24-hour emergency contact details.
